ELECTRIKA 2016 CHRONICLE

Electrika Festival first edition 2016 in Dakar was an artistic, public and media success, a spectacular event where the senegalese people has been able to contemplate and enjoy concerts of Electronic Music realized by a poster of important international Bands for the first time in the middle of Africa. All media, press, radio and television turned in total support and dissemination of the festival. Also a big support shown by important personalities of the government, like some of his ministers in particular was also vital.

Electrika Festival 2.016 has marked a new start point for the music festivals in Africa, giving the first big step to consolidate an electronic music event for Africa, something that entails an extra effort at every levels, cultural diffusion, production, logistics (Something not easy in Africa because of the challenge of moving Artists from other continents and convince them that it will be an unforgettable experience for them to act in front of a totally different audience than they are accustomed). Electrika Festival 2016, an idea that has been developing for some years and already works now on what will be the 2.017 edition, more spectacular if possible, with big artists names confirmed already and to be announced soon.

KIRLIAN CAMERA, FAKEBA, FLASH ZERO, CUARTILLA Y MUTO & JLA. FORM

It impresses that in a place so apparently far from the international electronic scene, a black boy around 20 years old tells you that night is one of the happiest in his life because he will see in concert to Kirlian Camera and Flash Zero and that already the maximum would be to see Covenant one day like this.

Kirlian Camera opened the festival with the same set that sweeps the European festivals these days, Elena Alice demonstrated once again why she is today the number one singer on the electronic stage scene. He had a problem with her microphone along the 3 theme and she solved it singing without micro. Fantastic. Angelo, the leader of Kirlian Camera since his birth in the 80's was absolutely delighted with the positive reaction from the people in this side of the world. The entire band was immensely grateful to have participated in something so special.

A large part of the Electrika Festival audience knew that something special would happen that night: the presentation of Fakeba, a senegalese artist who would perform a small showcase of only 4 tracks as an advance of a fabulous album of Electro that has recorded and that has occurred between the two continents, Europe and Africa. Although until that moment the public only could know "Fabe", its first single already published by to have been promoted already in radio and tv. ... the night would be of the Queen of Africa.

Fakeba opened with one of her new songs for 2,017 and that surely will accompany her always, the track that bears his own name. Then the whole audience went full in their performance, followed with "Senegal", a song also included in her second 12" single, a love song to her country with which the audience started to fly, this was really exciting, then she sang the song that gives title to that second single and its first launch in 2.017: "Musique", a fantastic dubstep track. Fakeba said goodbye with "Fabe", a track that offer you a vision of her direct when makes us think that we are seeing something everyone will want to see and enjoy around the world.

Flash Zero, the legendary spanish electronic music band, performed a concert with a review of the most important themes of their discography, equally, because of the uniqueness of the concert, the group was almost more impressed than the audience it self; the band playing on a stage in middle of Africa and the public enjoying a band of techno pop and EBM from the 20th century in the 21st century. After their performance the group commented that they could never forget this gig. Songs in english and spanish for a senegalese audience with french and Wolof language and everyone enjoying.

Cuartilla and Muto offered with their performance in Electrika, a set of techno without concessions, not easy, not commercial techno. A brilliant act for playing stages. It was an amazing experience to be able to be among the public and to verify that nobody was quiet, everybody dancing, all the people enjoying a world dance floor. Impressive to live a rave with a 95% black audience and not be in Detroit or Chicago.

JLA FORM, also known as the Man of the North or as a former member of No One Two In Hell, came from Euskadi, and offered a spectacular set of Hard Electronics, which made it sound brilliantly; On the dancefloor, in backstage or surroundings, we could live the sensation of feeling like we were coming on a high speed train in the form of musical notes to the rhythm of detonations. A fantastic supersonic savage artist.

... so ended Electrika 2.016.
